UnitedHealthcare (UHC) has published a list of CPT codes billed by physical and occupational therapists that will no longer require prior authorization. Continue reading below to find out which CPT codes are being removed from requiring prior authorization for the various UHC plans.

  1. When they say that prior authorization will not longer require, does this also include getting OPTUM authorization? Or do we still need to get OPTUM authorization for these patients?

    1. If you have specific questions regarding UHC and Optum, you need to contact the insurance carrier.

  2. Did they just say that Optum auth isn’t needed for UHC because they are switching to InterQual? Just checking if it was just a switch or a full “no more auth needed” situation 🙁
