  1. Is a function-based goal to train a patient to get around on a walker simulating the NWB status they are going to have after their impending surgery?

  2. I have a specific question regarding evaluations on patients with spasticity that are trying to get a baclofen pump. I do the evaluation for the physician and he does all the evaluations after the baclofen bolus at the 2, 4, and 6 hour intervals. I perform the evaluation using the Modified Ashworth Scale. I do not do any of the evaluations after the baclofen because the surgery centers do not cover my services as a physical therapist and there is not a way to bill.

      1. I am assuming these are considered pre-operative evaluations since the patient will be in a ambulatory surgery center. I am billing for an evaluation only where I assess the range of motion and level of spasticity according to Bohannon and Smith scoring guidelines. I do not see the patient afterwards. So am I in compliance? It is all insurance carriers.

        1. I am unable to answer if you are in compliance. That is something you would need to determine or have your organization retain a consultant if you need assistance.
