Thank you! If we need to change the ICD-10 code to one the more specific Parkinson’s codes, do we need to do a progress note/recert and send that for MD signature?
Not unless required by an insurance carrier.
For Medicare, if it was a new diagnosis code, we need to get an updated signed POC. Is this considered a new diagnosis code? Or not?
Medicare considers a new diagnosis to be a significant change to the plan of care thus requiring an updated plan of care. You need to answer if this is a new diagnosis or the same diagnosis, just more detailed coding.
If it is not a new diagnosis, just more detailed coding for g20?
That is what you need to determine. I can’t determine that for you.
For existing POCs with Medicare (started prior to 10/1/23), do we need to change the diagnosis code to one of the new G20 codes? Or can we leave it as G20?
With dates of service billed on and after October 1, 2023, you need to use the new codes.
