The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the final rule for services paid under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and this rule has finalized the new evaluation and reevaluation CPT codes that will be applicable to outpatient physical and occupational therapy services beginning with dates of service on and after January 1, 2017. In addition, the final rule provided information on the 2017 therapy cap, therapy cap exception process, conversion factor and payment for the new evaluation CPT codes.
One registration allows as many people to watch and listen to the webinar on one computer and/or phone line and each participant would be eligible to print off a certificate of attendance that may be eligible for 2.0 CEUs from your state board or national association. Can’t Listen Live on December 14th? Not a problem. The playback link can be viewed on your computer as many times as you would like and audio comes through your computer speakers.
Beginning with dates of services on and after January 1, 2017, CPT codes 97001 (Physical Therapy Evaluation), 97002 (Physical Therapy Reevaluation), 97003 (Occupational Therapy Evaluation), and 97004 (Occupational Therapy Reevaluation) will be deleted from the CPT book and will be replaced with 3 new evaluation CPT codes and 1 new reevaluation CPT code for physical therapy services and 3 new evaluation CPT codes and 1 new reevaluation CPT code for occupational therapy services. The new CPT codes are not only applicable to the Medicare program, but all insurance carriers that are a HIPAA covered entity. This would include state Medicaid programs, Aetna, Cigna, BCBS, Tricare, and UnitedHealthcare, just to name a few.
This 2-hour webinar will provide the new evaluation and reevaluation CPT codes, the long descriptor of the new CPT codes, what components must be included in the evaluation in order for the evaluating therapist to report the correct evaluation CPT code and patient scenario’s that will allow participants to determine what evaluation code should be billed. The webinar will also discuss 2017 therapy payment updates including the therapy cap, therapy cap exception process, manual medical review process for claims above $3700, 2017 Part B deductible, 2017 pricing of the new evaluation codes as well as the 2017 conversion factor and its impact on payment for outpatient therapy in 2017.
