UHC Community Plan Revises Outpatient Therapy Policy

UnitedHealthcare (UHC) Community Plan has revised their outpatient therapy policy. Summary of changes include the following:

  • How long UHC Community Plan can authorize outpatient therapy for
  • What must be included in requests for continuation of therapy visits
  • How often a reevaluation must be performed
  • How you must document time in your daily note
  • Patient receiving multiple therapy services (physical, occupational, and/or speech therapy) at same time

  1. Would you be able to clarify if this new Prior authorization is being used in the SNF for managed Medicare B patients? It was not supposed to be the process however we are receiving conflicting reports of this process now required in the SNF.
