Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation Expands Telehealth Services
Effective with dates of service beginning on April 13, 2020, the Texas Division of Workers’ Compensation as issued an emergency rule regarding rehabilitation services and telehealth services. This emergencyrule allows health care providers licensed to perform physical medicine and rehabilitation services, including physical therapists, occupational therapists, and speech pathologists to bill and be reimbursed for services currently allowed under CMS telemedicine and telehealth billing codes. Texas Physical Therapists Get Direct Access
On May 23, 2019, House Bill (HB) 29 passed the Texas Senate and on June 14, 2019, Governor signed the bill into law. HB 29 will provide Texas residents the ability to have Direct Access for physical therapy services with an effective date of September 1, 2019.
