eviCore Update for the State of Michigan

Per BCBS of Michigan, eviCore, beginning July 1, 2021, will no longer mail paper copies of the Practice Profile Summary, which includes information about your assigned category for outpatient physical therapy services, to health care providers. Instead, eviCore will post category updates on the first business day of February and August each year beginning in August 2021. MPTA Updates BCBS and Telehealth Coverage

The Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA) has provided updated information regarding Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) of Michigan covering telehealth services for outpatient physical therapy. Per the MPTA website, it now states “BCBSM has informed MPTA that it will cover CPT Codes 97110, 97112, 97116, 97530 and 97535 via telehealth effective for both commercial and MA population until June 30. Unfortunately, this policy decision has not been finalized or implemented and we have not been given any further information. BCBS of Michigan to Cover Telehealth Until June 30th

The Michigan Physical Therapy Association (MPTA) has updated their website with information stating “BCBSM has notified MPTA that it will cover CPT Codes 97110, 97112, 97116, 97530 and 97535 via telehealth effective for both commercial and MA population until June 30. The official notification and associated nuances/restrictions will be posted on the Provider Portal soon.”
