On August 20, 2024, Federal Judge Ada Brown issued a nationwide ban blocking the implementation of the Federal Trade Commission’s noncompete ban. This means the noncompete ban will not go into effect on September 4, 2024 and all existing noncompetes are still valid.

On April 23, 2024, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) issued a final rule banning noncompetes nationwide. This ban will allow workers to freely change jobs.
