COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) updates its prospective payment systems annually in the form of proposed and final rule‐making. These documents are very important to those who practice in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) since they impact the way care is delivered and paid for. This webinar will examine the final rule for SNF changes to Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 Medicare payment rates and the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) Quality Reporting Program (QRP). The notice updates the Resource Utilization Group IV (RUG‐IV) payment rates, includes functional outcome measures in the QRP, and continues to shift Medicare payments from volume to value with continued implementation of the SNF Value‐based Purchasing (VBP) program. Additionally, CMS clarifies definitions and provisions related to investigation of complaints and team composition. The webinar will also provide participants with the most current information on CMS’s proposed revisions to the existing SNF prospective payment system, the proposed Resident Classification System, Version 1 (RCS‐1).

OBJECTIVES:

At the conclusion of this webinar presentation, participants will be able to:

  1. Identify changes to the payment provisions for Rehab RUGs in the SNF
  2. Describe the role of physical, occupational and speech‐language therapy in the functional
outcome measures
  3. Understand the impact of value‐based purchasing on the SNF setting
  4. Identify the most significant changes to the SNF‐PPS in the proposed RCS‐1 model
