COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Due to the public health emergency due to COVID-19, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), as well as many commercial insurance carriers, have expanded telehealth coverage to include outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy services. This webinar will provide participants with the latest information on telehealth coverage by CMS, Aetna, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare and other insurance carriers as it applies to outpatient physical, occupational and speech therapy services.
OBJECTIVES:
At the conclusion of this webinar presentation, participants will be able to:
- List 4 insurance carriers that reimburse for therapy services delivered via telehealth in 2021 due to COVID-19
- Name which modifier(s) must be appended to the CPT codes on the claim form for outpatient therapy services provided via telehealth
- Understand the difference between asynchronous and synchronous telecommunication
- Recite which CPT codes can be reimbursed if delivered via telehealth
- Determine which place of service code must be used on the claim form
- Differentiate telehealth coverage between providers who submit claims on a 1500-claim form versus a UB-04 claim form
- Explain the legality of providing telehealth services across state lines
ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Rick Gawenda, P.T., graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Gawenda is currently the President and founder of Gawenda Seminars & Consulting, Inc. and Director of Finances for Kinetix Advanced Physical Therapy Inc., a private practice located in southern California.
