On November 6, 2023, the OIG issued comprehensive General Program Guidance for all entities involved in the Healthcare Industry. This new guidance replaces the existing guidance that has been in place for the industry. There are seven elements of an effective compliance program cited by the OIG, and one of those elements is written policies and procedures. Most leaders know that they SHOULD have a P&P Manual, but do you know what should be included, how to make it effective and how to manage it long term? Do you understand the pitfalls of a policy and procedure manual that is not tailored to the organization?
Join us for this online course, and we will discuss this critical document including what is needed, what is NOT needed, how to ensure that employees are educated on your policies and procedures, how to increase clarity and how to identify pitfalls.
At the conclusion of this online course presentation, participants will be able to:
- Identify the requirements for a policy and procedure manual and process as outlined in the OIG Guidance Documents.
- Articulate how a well written P&P Manual will promote patient safety, foster effective communication and assist the department in ensuring compliance.
- Articulate key elements that a therapy department policy and procedure manual should include.
- Develop a plan for using the P&P Manual in routine orientation and training of staff.
- Articulate pitfalls that many therapy P&P manuals include.
