HHS Renews Public Health Emergency

On October 13, 2022, Secretary of Health and Human Services, Xavier Becerra, renewed the public health emergency (PHE) due to COVID-19. This means that the PHE will end at the end of the day on January 11, 2023 unless extended further or ended sooner. Click HERE to read the PHE extension notice.

  1. Since the PHE is extended into 2023, does that mean that CMS will extend the waiver of PT/PTA on-site supervision through the end of 2023? Our practice has been preparing for daily on-site supervision to resume 1/1/23 in case the PHE was not extended.
