As you can imagine, providers of outpatient therapy services are confused regarding E-Visits and Telephone Services and what is the difference between them and when do I use each one. In this article, I will answer some of the more frequent questions I am receiving regarding the differences between E-Visits and Telephone Services.     Are you aware of the difference in reimbursement regarding the E-Visit (billed through 2061-3) and the Telephone services CPT codes?

  3. Just want to clarify, “A patient can submit a question to their provider through the applicable patient portal. The provider receives the question, reviews the initial inquiry and any applicable documents the patient may have included, and responds back to the patient through the applicable patient portal.” Secure e-mail or portal is included, so if a patient sends questions through e-mail and a clinician responds – that time researching the answer and responding could be billed as an e-visit?
