CMS Releases FY 2018 IRF Final Rule
On July 31, 2017, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued the final rule for services provided in an inpatient rehabilitation facility (IRF) for fiscal year (FY) 2018. FY 2018 begins on October 1, 2017 and ends on September 30, 2018.
The final rule addresses payment updates, late submission of IRF patient assessment instrument (IRF-PAI), refinements to the 60 percent rule presumptive methodology and use of IRF-PAI data to determine patient body mass index (BMI) greater than 50 for cases of lower extremity single joint replacement, just to name a few.
