CMS Releases CY 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Proposed Rule

On July 14, 2026, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released the calendar year (CY) 2027 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) proposed rule. This proposed rule does have regulatory and reimbursement implications for outpatient physical, occupational, and speech therapy provided in all outpatient therapy settings.     1. Actually, PT and OT reimbursement is proposed to increase in 2027 compated to 2026 due to RVU changes of our CPT codes.

    1 Any rational for the reduction in the value of the RVU, or just the same BS 1995 law?

    2 ASHA has told their members about the new codes that are supposedly going to be “timed” Any description of the codes including times?

    3 Is the new GSLPP code the “only” code for Peds regardless of the specific therapy, or is it “added” to each of the new 10 codes to reflect the age of the patient? If it is the only code to be used for peds, we are “Screwed.” Every therapist knows that peds take more time and prep that adults. How could ASHA ever let that happen? After all, Medicare doesn’t even pay for Peds.
