CMS Publishes 2021 MPFS Conversion Factor
On January 5, 2021, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) published the revised conversion factor (CF) for services reimbursed under the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) for calendar year 2021. This would include outpatient therapy services provided in all outpatient therapy settings except for critical access hospitals since critical access hospitals are not reimbursed under the MPFS.

In addition, I have created an excel spreadsheet that provides the Medicare allowed amount for the most common CPT codes billed by physical, occupational and speech therapy for calendar year 2021. The spreadsheet also compares the 2021 Medicare allowed amount to the 2020 Medicare allowed amount so you will be able to see the percentage increase or decrease in 2021 compared to 2020. Thanks for all your exceptional and hard work keeping us informed. I have clicked on spreadsheet for the comparisons of 2020 and 2021, however it comes up as a blank excel spreadsheet. Please advise.

How can I figure the rates for each CPT code for my state for 2021? Thank you for the information.
Your Medicare contractor should have the fee schedule on their website. Also. if you are an APTA member, APTA has a fee schedule on their website that also takes into account the MPPR policy.

Although, the fee schedule’s allowable is available, I always find compilation to seem like a daunting task. The MPPR policy makes actual reimbursement even more difficult. I will look for the APTA’s calculations. Thank you for the direction.
